qualified Oncology RN in Wilmington, North Carolina, 28401 About
The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Oncology Job Specialty:
Oncology Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-Hour
(18:45 - 07:15) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum
of 1 year; First-time travelers accepted License: NC or Compact
License pending is acceptable, but required by start date
Certifications: - Chemotherapy Administration Certification
(required prior to start) - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Preferred:
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Charge Nurse experience
Must-Have: - Experience administering chemotherapy - Experience in
an inpatient setting Job Description: - Work with oncology and
medical-surgical patients in a unit with high acuity adults and
geriatrics. - Target patient ratios of 1:6-7. - Participate in
orientation, consisting of 24 hours (2 shifts). - Required to float
to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients
holding, such as the emergency department. - Every other weekend
work is required. - Mandatory participation in Storm Team and/or
Hurricane Team during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents,
or disasters. - Work with a primary patient population consisting
of general medical-surgical diagnosis. - Capable of managing
conditions such as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) with insulin drip,
acute kidney injury (AKI), sepsis, malignant neoplasms, and other
complex diagnoses. - Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy through
various delivery methods including IV, PO, or injection. - Utilize
unit systems for medication, documentation, and communication:
PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR. - Follow dress code of navy blue and white
scrubs. - Complete all required modules prior to start
(approximately 8-10 hours for acute roles). Additional
Requirements: - Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this
specialty. - COVID-19 vaccine not required; Flu vaccine required,
with exemptions for medical or religious reasons only. - Compliance
testing must be completed within 48 hours after signing the
contract. - Candidates need flexibility for floating and comfort
working in different units based on skill set and patient census
needs. - Adherence to the fatigue policy, preventing work beyond 5
